This is how it all began: a young woman in her final year of graduate school and a boy named Rocky, her first patient, who came to therapy with a tumor in his leg and a battle that would last four years. There was no manual for that. Rocky died on May 16, 1976, just a few days before she received her degree. Instead of closing that chapter and moving on, she carried it with her forever: today, now a therapist with years of experience, she keeps a drawing Rocky gave her, placed right next to her work chair.
