On the podcast “Cuerpxs en Altavoz”, the influencer known as La Fatshionista and her guest Diana Flores made a statement that did not go unnoticed: recommending sugar-free gelatin or eating jicama and water is, according to them, an act of patriarchal violence.

Their argument is that nutritionists repeat “diet culture” without asking the patient what they like or what they really need to maintain a healthy body.

Criticism was quick to follow: many accuse Diana Flores of discrediting years of professional training in nutrition, while others argue that the traditional medical approach does ignore patients’ mental health.

This is not all; on the podcast they also talk about women’s nutrition during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and the different illnesses one may have, as well as the value that healthy eating can have, which not everyone may be able to access.

Is recommending light gelatin health advice or a form of patriarchal violence? Which side are you on?
