Tense moments were experienced at the Adventureland amusement park in Long Island, United States, after a mechanical ride unexpectedly stopped, leaving several visitors suspended in the air.

The incident occurred on Friday night, when the ride known as “Wave Twister” suffered a malfunction that caused the system to stop with the passengers still in their seats. In total, 15 children and one adult were trapped several meters above the ground while the mechanism remained motionless.

Emergency crews, including firefighters and rescue personnel, quickly arrived at the scene and launched an operation to evacuate those affected one by one. According to reports, all occupants were brought down safely after several hours of work.

Images of the rescue began circulating on social media and sparked concern among users, especially because of the presence of minors on the ride. However, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported.

For its part, the park said the ride will remain out of service while the cause of the malfunction is investigated.

The incident adds to other recent accidents on mechanical rides in different countries, reopening the debate over safety protocols at amusement parks and the response to emergencies at this type of facility
