Denis Vashurin grew up, studied, got his driver’s license, and found a partner. It’s just that his body seems not to have gotten the memo about any of that.
Born in 1987 in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk region, this 32-year-old man has the physical appearance of a 13-year-old teenager. His parents noticed from a very young age that he was growing differently from the other children his age: he was always the shortest, the smallest, but active and with no apparent health problems. It was during adolescence that the difference became impossible to ignore. His graduation photo shows him as a child surrounded by fully developed young adults. “When I realized that I was no longer going to change physically, at first I felt a little uncomfortable”, he confessed in an interview with the Russian YouTuber Vasya na sene. “I thought about how my life would continue, whether it would be difficult for me”.
Traffic police stopped him once, suspecting that his license was fake. People who know him ask whether he also feels that young on the inside. He says no: his body ages at a normal pace, and his friends call him “grandpa” because he is calm, stubborn, and a homebody. Denis chose to stay in his small town, where everyone knows him, so he wouldn’t have to prove his age to every person who looks at him. To this day, his case has no medical explanation.
