Georgie and Marley came into the world at just 23 weeks of gestation.
They weighed just over a pound each when they were born by C-section on August 26, 2026.
Their parents, Holly Ditchfield and Aaron Summers, spent nine entire days by their sides in the neonatal unit, holding their hands, learning their gestures, clinging to every hour that life gave them.
Georgie died on September 3 at 1pm. Marley passed away the following day, at 5am, as if he did not want to leave his brother alone.
Holly was already a mother to Daisy and Dec from a previous relationship, but nothing had prepared her for this.
She and Aaron held the twins until their last breath and told the story on Instagram: “They have been the 9 most difficult, most heartbreaking and, at the same time, most magical days of our lives”.
There is no manual for saying goodbye to a child you barely knew — only the instinct not to let go.
