What looked like a black stain in a landfill in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand, turned out to be one of the cruelest scenes ever captured on camera.

A stray dog had become trapped in a pool of melted industrial rubber, a material that, once cooled, turns into a solid and toxic prison.

When rescuers arrived at the scene, the dog was almost completely submerged. The rubber had hardened in such a way that the animal was “sealed” to the ground.

Any sudden movement could tear off his skin, so the team had to act with surgical precision, using solvents and oils to slowly dissolve the black mass bit by bit.

They endured hours of anguish under the sun, but the animal’s will and the volunteers’ dedication achieved the impossible.

After being freed from his chemical prison, the dog was rushed to a veterinary clinic to treat the burns and poisoning from the fumes.
