She is four months old and already knows the corridors of a hospital better than the arms of a family.

Since March, Luciana has remained hospitalized at Dr. Francisco de Icaza Bustamante Children’s Hospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador, after allegedly being abandoned by her parents. Among doctors and nurses who have become part of her daily life, the little girl remains stable and continues to receive comprehensive medical care.

The hospital clarified that the case is in the hands of the Office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES). Although many people have expressed their desire to adopt her, Luciana still cannot be put up for adoption, as the legal process to locate her relatives and determine whether family reunification is possible must first be completed. In addition, the institution warned that it has not authorized any accounts or numbers to receive donations, so any assistance must be made only through its official channels.
