Bryan Johnson is 48 years old and spends close to 2 million dollars each year on a plan to delay his own aging. Blood tests, meticulously planned diets, transfusions, a luxury medical team called ‘Immortals Care.’ Everything designed so that his body would not fail.

It failed anyway. After endoscopies and biopsies, doctors confirmed that he has autoimmune gastritis, an incurable disease in which the immune system itself attacks the stomach lining. He described it himself this way: his stomach is eating itself.

The condition affects up to 5% of the world’s population and is almost never detected in time. It can lead to chronic anemia and a higher risk of cancer. Johnson had already been diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 21. Now he has promised to share publicly how he will try to solve what not even his fortune could prevent.
