Cristina Popescu, a 31-year-old woman who almost lost her life after developing seven blood clots that traveled from her leg to her lungs.
It all began in February 2026 during a family visit in Romania. Popescu had constant heel pain, and doctors thought it was plantar fasciitis, but days later Cristina collapsed with brutal chest pain. That was when they discovered a potentially fatal pulmonary embolism.
Tests revealed that the combination of a genetic condition and the contraceptive pill she had been taking since 2025 may have contributed to the problem. She can now barely walk, depends on her family for basic tasks, and has no income since losing her job as a barista. “I feel like a baby trapped in an adult body”, she confessed.
