A movie theater in British Columbia, Canada, was left without the official poster for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but one of its employees decided that fans could not be left without decorations.
Drake Landon, an employee at the Famous Players theater in Prince George, grabbed paper and pencil and created his own version of the poster.
The result was a hand-drawn illustration inspired by the famous “Spooder-Man” meme, accompanied by a note written by him: “Sorry! We never received the real posters! Sorry for the inconvenience!”
What Landon did simply to solve the lack of promotional material ended up becoming an internet phenomenon.
A photograph of the poster began circulating on social media and surpassed 51,000 upvotes on Reddit, while hundreds of fans praised the employee’s effort.
Some moviegoers even went to the theater specifically to take photos next to the drawing. Landon acknowledged that the reaction was completely unexpected.
The Cineplex chain, which owns the establishment, also took the situation with humor and noted that the team had simply had fun while waiting for the official poster to arrive.
And so, while Hollywood invests millions in promoting a Spider-Man movie, a hand-drawn illustration by a movie theater employee ended up becoming one of the posters most beloved by fans.
