The conspiracy theory haunting Justin Trudeau: rumor says he could be Fidel Castro’s son

Fidel Castro’s daughter had the perfect opportunity to shut down this rumor once and for all. She didn’t. 😮

Alina Fernández appeared on News Nation in May 2026 and, when asked whether Justin Trudeau could be her biological brother, replied by recalling that Margaret Trudeau visited Cuba frequently. Without a clear “no”. Without a denial. That evasive answer was enough to relaunch a conspiracy theory that was born on a Reddit forum on November 27, 2016 — the same day Fidel Castro died — and that Donald Trump repeated in an interview in 2024 and even included in his book.

The problem is that the facts don’t add up: Justin Trudeau was born on December 25, 1971, and his mother’s first documented visit to Cuba took place in 1976, five years later. Canadian historian Robert Wright, a specialist in Canada-Cuba relations, calls the theory “absurd” and there is no documentary evidence whatsoever to support it. But with an ambiguous answer on television, Alina Fernández achieved what no fact has been able to prevent: keeping the doubt alive. 🤔
