The earthquake destroyed a shelter and left hundreds of dogs homeless

The tragedy caused by the earthquake in Colombia did not only affect people. One of the places hit was the Kenovy Foundation, in the department of Quindío, where hundreds of rescued dogs from different parts of the country were left exposed after much of the property collapsed.

The images show a devastating scene: buildings reduced to rubble and other structures that still threaten to collapse.

Amid the chaos, the foundation’s workers began desperately searching for the dogs that were still missing, while checking the animals they managed to find one by one.

The foundation itself described the situation as a moment of “true anguish” and acknowledged that they still did not know the full extent of what had happened.

“We only pray to find them all alive”, they said in a statement, as they continue searching for the missing animals.

Some dogs have already been found injured, while others remain missing. For the foundation, each one of them is part of a family that is now waiting to find them again.

The earthquake left damaged buildings and affected families in different parts of Colombia, but these images show another side of the emergency: animals that were also trapped, injured, or left without a place to take shelter.
