“The effort shouldn’t fall solely on the children”: Shakira has had enough of Piqué and took him to court so he has to bring his children to Miami

Shakira and Gerard Piqué came face to face again. This time, in a Barcelona courthouse.

On Tuesday, October 6, both appeared in person at a hearing to review the visitation arrangements for their children, Milan and Sasha, aged 13 and 11. Almost four years after the 2022 agreement, the singer is asking to change the rules: to reduce short trips between Miami, where the children have lived since April 2023, and Barcelona, where their father lives.

Her specific proposal is that during short vacations, Piqué should be the one to cross the Atlantic to Miami. His lawyers explained in a statement: “The request is not intended to reduce the time the children spend with their father”. According to the statement, the goal is to protect the children’s emotional, physical, and academic well-being, and to share the burden of traveling.

On the other side, Piqué’s lawyer, Ramón Tamborero, says negotiations continued until the last minute to avoid going to trial, even with the judge and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, but no agreement was reached. There’s no ruling yet. Is it fair for the children to keep making the entire journey, or should Piqué also do his part?
