It’s true: size does matter. According to a study conducted by Ikki Matsuda, a primatologist at Chubu University in Japan, the proboscis monkey needs its nose to attract the attention of females and be able to reproduce.

According to Matsuda, the larger this protuberance, the larger its testicles, and the bigger its harem. Thus, the “less endowed” must wait anxiously in order to reproduce.

Unfortunately, this species, which inhabits the jungles of the island of Borneo (Malaysia), is endangered.
