Mette-Marit is 52 years old, is the Crown Princess of Norway, and for weeks has no longer appeared at official events. The Royal House confirmed it: she was included on the waiting list for a lung transplant. 🫁

The diagnosis came in 2018: pulmonary fibrosis, a disease that progressively destroys lung tissue and has no cure. What has changed now is the severity: according to the standard medical protocol, a patient is only placed on the transplant list when they are estimated to have approximately one year left to live. The hospital confirmed that waiting times are currently short, but there is no way to know when a compatible organ will arrive.

Until that happens, the palace will not provide public updates on her health. After the transplant, if it happens, comes a long period of rehabilitation. The future queen waits in silence. ⏳
