A photo of Kane, white powders, sacred leaves, and a potion. That was all Nana Kwaku Bonsam, the Ghanaian witch doctor nicknamed the ‘Wednesday Devil,’ needed to declare — in complete seriousness — that he had put a spell on the England captain before the match. 🧿

The result: England and Ghana drew 0-0 on June 23 in Boston, in Group L of the 2026 World Cup, and Harry Kane not only failed to score but also wasted a clear chance in front of goal. The same player who had scored 2 goals in the opener against Croatia completely disappeared. Bonsam, who already has a history — at the 2014 World Cup he performed rituals against Cristiano Ronaldo — was quick to claim the credit. 🌿

The next day, he posted a three-minute video in which he announced that he was lifting the spell and ‘freeing’ Kane for the next match. “I have already fulfilled my mission”, the man who describes himself as ‘the only authentic witch doctor in Africa’ reportedly said. Coincidence or something more? Football has answers for everything, except this. ⚽🔮
