Surgeons perform emergency surgery on a hemorrhage that was putting pressure on his brain. When he wakes up, they call it a miracle. 🙏

Five years later, Jiménez walks onto the pitch at the World Cup being played in Mexico — his country — with a band on his head that is not an accessory: it is literally the reason he is still alive.

And then, on June 11, 2026, he scores. The cry comes from his whole body, he points to the sky, and the tears come on their own. Just a few months ago he lost his father, and that goal has a recipient. ❤️

There are stories football does not deserve — and every now and then it gives them anyway. Raúl Jiménez’s is one of those. 🇲🇽
