It was September 26, 2025, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”. There, at 79 years old, the actor said the phrase that sums up 13 years of silent struggle: “I still can’t walk, which is why I’m in this silly chair, and that is very limiting”.
It all began in 2012, when he suffered a severe stroke while receiving a massage at his home in California. It was his own masseur who, without Curry noticing any serious symptoms, insisted on calling an ambulance. That decision probably saved his life. From then on, he had to relearn how to speak, was left with partial facial paralysis, and his left leg never responded the same way again.
Even so, he never gave up acting: he turned to voice acting, voicing Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and wrote his memoirs. That night, surrounded by Patricia Quinn, Barry Bostwick, and Nell Campbell, his longtime costars, Tim Curry showed that humor and courage can coexist with fragility. 🎭
