“Until we get the last victim out alive, we are not moving”… that was how he replied when asked if he was going to rest. 🥹🙌 He turned 64 on June 27. No cake, no party, no rest.

Carlos Morales Cienfuegos, “Topo”, celebrated it on his knees among concrete slabs in Chacao, Caracas, with his flashlight on and his ears alert to any sign of life. 🥹

He has been doing this for 54 years. He arrived in Venezuela as part of a team of 10 Mexican rescuers after a tragedy that left a poorly built building turned to dust.

The chances were slim, he knew it, and even so he said it with a calm that shakes you: “There are few chances, but we are still searching for people alive.” They managed to rescue a little dog from the rubble, although its owner did not survive. They also recovered bodies, restoring dignity to those who were no longer there. 💪

When someone asked him how long they would keep going, Carlos did not hesitate for even a second: “Until we get the last victim out alive, we are not moving.”

That is what 54 years of vocation do to a person: they turn sacrifice into the only way to celebrate life. Let the world know his name. 🌟
