Matt Damon said it jokingly, but Cillian Murphy seems to be quite consistent about his priorities: during the filming of Oppenheimer, the actor was so focused on his role that Damon ended up describing him as “the worst dinner companion imaginable”.

Murphy took it in stride and explained on 60 Minutes, in February 2024, that between the long days and preparing for the character, he preferred to do something much simpler at the end of the day: sleep.
“The most important thing for me is sleep. I love sleeping and I need to sleep”, Murphy admitted. So while everyone else might have been thinking about a good dinner after filming, he was probably already thinking about his pillow. 😴

In the end, his method worked: his performance in Oppenheimer earned him the Oscar for Best Actor.
