Emma D’Arcy and Emilia Clarke reunited at the 2026 Emmy Awards, held on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, to present the award for Outstanding Lead Actress together.
Everything was proceeding with the typical solemnity of an awards gala until Clarke delivered a complete phrase in High Valyrian, the ancestral language created for Game of Thrones, and the audience held its breath expecting something prophetic.
Then D’Arcy, with complete seriousness, translated the message: it was barely a “good evening”. The whole room laughed, and social media exploded with memes about two dragon queens spending their linguistic magic on an ordinary greeting.
The award went to Sally Field, but no one remembers it nearly as much as that moment when an entire fictional civilization was summed up in just two words according to them. 😅
