In 2015, while demolishing an abandoned cabin less than a kilometer from his home, workers found his remains trapped inside the chimney. His body had been there for years and had to be identified through dental records.
Authorities found no obvious signs of violence and determined that his death had been accidental, possibly after he became trapped while trying to enter through the chimney. However, the strange circumstances in which he was found left questions that, to this day, have never been fully answered.
