China, the world’s leading producer of sex toys, has just taken a new step in the industry: incorporating artificial intelligence into its devices. At a trade fair dedicated to adult products in Shanghai, manufacturers showcased everything from erotic conversational robots to smart stimulation devices. “A single phrase can make you shudder”, the signs promise in the vast exhibition hall.

Among the new products, “Luvmazer” stands out, an application developed by a company from Canton that offers “encounters with AI characters” and turns conversations with virtual partners into vibrator pulses. “Everyone now offers the function of syncing adult videos with a connected sex toy”, says an employee of Amorlink, a company specializing in “teledildonics”, the use of technology to imitate human sexual interactions.

However, not everything is innovation without risks. The exhibition also included an adult image and video generator that allows users to insert the faces of celebrities or acquaintances into pornographic content, a tool that has raised alarms about privacy and consent. Exhibitors are being cautious about the possible legal consequences.
