Presley Gerber died at age 27 at Resolutions Living, a sober living facility in Santa Monica, on September 20, 2026.
Four days later, reports about Reza Nabavi, the facility’s founder, said that his path to registration as a psychologist had begun with two denials.
According to reports citing official documents, Nabavi was arrested in Oakland in February 2002.
A search of his vehicle turned up meth, marijuana, a firearm and ammunition; a minor was also in the vehicle.
His applications for registration as a psychologist were denied in 2004 and May 2005 for reasons that included convictions and the use of controlled substances.
He obtained registration in California in December 2006; a September 2026 report said he still had it.
