In 1980, an owner bought a new Toyota Pickup in the United States. More than four decades later, the truck had surpassed 1 million miles, about 1,6 million kilometers, and was still running.
Its story is far from that of a vehicle kept solely for display. Throughout all those years, it was used for off-road, rallies, and other demanding activities, as well as being involved in accidents. Just two weeks after it was purchased, it collided with an MG Midget, but it was repaired and returned to the road.
The original engine covered approximately 400.000 miles (644.000 kilometers) before being replaced. The transmission was also replaced with a five-speed one, while other parts were renewed as wear made it necessary.
The bodywork bears the marks of its decades of use: rust, deteriorated paint, holes in the floor, and numerous modifications. It is not a truck preserved like new; what is truly impressive is that it continued to be used throughout all that time.
With more than 1,6 million kilometers accumulated, this Toyota became an extraordinary example of longevity. A truck bought new in 1980 that, after more than 40 years of bumps, repairs, and difficult roads, was still on the road.
