The young Spanish referee Carla García Alarcón revealed that many footballers send her private messages after the matches she officiates.
She is barely 21 years old and explained that players usually look for her after matches: “my full name appears on the scoreboard and then players send me requests on social media”.
Although so far the messages are usually about the match: “Most of the messages are ‘very well refereed,’ ‘that wasn’t a card,’ or ‘referee, a question about such-and-such play”.
