Jason Sudeikis has only directed in front of cameras, as Ted Lasso, the fictional coach who conquered the world with humor and heart. But in Lithuania, someone wants to make it a reality.
Žalgiris FC, a women’s club currently sitting second in the Lithuanian league, sent him an unusual invitation: training sessions, tactical planning, and a full official match, with total control.
All of this takes advantage of the fact that the actor has Lithuanian roots on his father’s side and that the series’ new season shows him managing a women’s team in England for the first time.
Andrius Tapinas, the club’s president, put it plainly: the players want the innovation and humor that Ted Lasso represents.
The campaign, launched together with tourism agency Go Vilnius, seeks visibility for women’s football. Sudeikis has not responded yet, but all the fans are hoping for a yes.
