Samir Xaud has presided over the Brazilian Football Confederation since May 2025. But while Brazil drew 1-1 against Morocco at Metlife Stadium, the scandal that broke on June 15 had nothing to do with the field. 🔥

According to the investigation by journalist Leo Dias, Xaud allegedly used CBF funds to cover the accommodation of Camila Cristina Andrade — a businesswoman in the fitness sector identified as his lover — at the Hyatt Regency Grand Central hotel in New York between June 2 and 10. The bill: R$ 59.424,81, about $10,500. The two were seen together having dinner at the Harry Cipriani restaurant in Manhattan on June 3 and shared the confederation’s official vehicle. 🍽️

The detail that makes the scandal even more striking: one day after Andrade left New York, Xaud traveled to Mexico City to meet his wife Natalia — married for more than 20 years, with three children — and attend the World Cup opening ceremony. After being contacted by the journalist, Xaud allegedly paid the hotel bill out of his own pocket on June 14. The CBF denies any irregularities. 😳
