Rob Jetten has a country to govern and, since Monday, also a sonogram in his hand.

The Prime Minister of the Netherlands and his fiancé, Argentine hockey player Nicolás Keenan of Los Leones, announced that they are expecting their first child in spring 2027. They did so with a photo holding the first sonogram image and a short message: “Someone very special is on the way. See you in 2027, little one”.

Everything was possible thanks to a surrogate named Lisa and an egg donor, both Dutch acquaintances of the couple. According to Jetten’s party, D66, this is not a commercial surrogacy arrangement, and neither woman receives financial compensation. The couple thanked them this way: “None of this would be possible without you”.

They met four years ago at a supermarket in The Hague. Jetten took office as prime minister in February 2026 and is the country’s first openly gay head of government. They confirmed that the surrogate and the baby are doing well, and everyone is very happy and looking forward to the newest member of the family.
