The strangest thing isn’t that they dated, but that they lasted longer than several Hollywood couples we do remember.
Cameron Diaz and Jared Leto began dating in 1999, when she was already one of Hollywood’s most popular actresses and he was splitting his time between acting and a band that was still a long way from becoming the phenomenon known as 30 Seconds to Mars.
Their relationship was always quite private. They weren’t ones to pose together all the time or talk much about what was going on between them, but they were photographed together on various occasions and were together for almost four years.

There were even rumors of an engagement around 2000. They never made it to the altar, and the relationship ended in 2003, just as they were both entering very different stages of their careers.
Soon after, Cameron began another relationship that many people probably remember much better: the one she had with Justin Timberlake. Years later, she would marry Benji Madden, with whom she started a family.
Jared, on the other hand, continued to keep his love life much further away from public statements.
And perhaps that’s why this romance was buried in some strange corner of pop culture: it lasted almost four years, there were wedding rumors, and yet today it sounds like a couple someone randomly put together using two names from the 2000s.
