Claudia Romani dreamed of refereeing a World Cup. In 2014 she left the runways behind to pursue that dream, earned the license to officiate in the top tier of Italian football, and everything pointed to her making it. Now, with the World Cup underway in the United States, Claudia traveled to Miami alone, because her beloved Italy did not qualify. Bosnia and Herzegovina eliminated them on penalties in March, and the next day she appeared in a bikini with an Italian scarf answering questions from her fans, devastated: “I grew up in a time when we always went very far”, she wrote. Even so, Claudia sat on a giant replica of a soccer ball in an incredibly short dress under the Florida sun and wrote something that melts you: “This is so magical… I will always be a #soccergirl at heart”.
