Millie was hiding under the porch of a house in California, shielding her three newborn puppies from the heat.
When the rescuers from Oakdale Tiny Paws Rescue arrived, they couldn’t believe what they were seeing: while Millie had the classic sandy coat of a pug, two of her puppies had been born white with black spots, almost identical to calves.
No one knows yet why the puppies turned out that way — the rescuers plan to have them undergo a DNA test to understand the genetic mystery. In the meantime, Millie hasn’t stopped feeding, cleaning, and caring for them like any mother would care for her puppies, regardless of the fact that they don’t look like her. The family was moved to a foster home, where they continue to grow strong and close-knit.
