Lauren Cortez was born on March 23, 1995, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. The one who delivered her was Dr. Bryan Cox, the same obstetrician who also cared for her mother for more than two decades, Isabel Luna.
When Lauren became pregnant with her first child, she did not hesitate to seek out the same doctor. No one imagined that fate would bring them together again in such a literal way: on July 26, 2020, Logan James was born, and Cox was the one who delivered him, at the same institution where 25 years earlier he had delivered his mother.

Lauren recreated the 1995 photo with Cox holding her own baby, in an image that immediately went viral. There, she shared something that moved everyone: Cox has the habit of singing “Happy Birthday” to every baby he brings into the world, and both she and her son received that same song, in the same voice, 25 years apart. In 33 years of practice, Cox has delivered more than 5,000 babies, and says it is common for people to ask him whether he was the one who brought them into the world.
