At 45, Jessica Alba didn’t want her daughter to leave without having something permanently etched between them.
Honor Warren turned 18 in June, graduated from high school in May, and this fall is starting a double major in English and Film at Yale, the same university where her father, Cash Warren, studied. Before packing her bags, mother and daughter sat down together with tattoo artist Daniel Winter and chose the same symbol: an eye with an infinity symbol underneath. Jessica’s was placed on the outer forearm; Honor’s, on the inner wrist. Honor shared it on Instagram with her hands intertwined with her mom’s and a simple caption: ‘me x mama’.
Jessica admitted it days later in an interview with PEOPLE magazine: this moment as a mother is proving more difficult than she imagined. The tattoo doesn’t erase the distance ahead, but it ensures that every time Honor looks at her wrist in New Haven, her mom will be there.
