Someone entered Madrid’s Legends Museum and walked away with history. 😤
The jersey Iker Casillas wore on 11 July 2010 in Johannesburg—the night Spain lifted its first World Cup after Iniesta’s extra-time goal—is no longer there. Its absence was detected on Tuesday, 23 June 2026 during a routine inspection of the collection. The museum, located next to Puerta del Sol and backed by LaLiga, FIFA, UEFA, and the IOC, issued an official statement confirming the disappearance, but did not reveal whether a formal police report has been filed or whether any suspects have been identified. 🕵️♂️
The garment was the star piece of the temporary exhibition “Casillas: the legacy of a legend”, active since 4 June and one of the most visited among the 600 original items housed in the space. Casillas had deposited it himself. It disappeared from a museum open to the public, with visitors, with security, during the very summer in which Spain is competing in the 2026 World Cup. The question no one can answer yet: how? 🏆
