Two earthquakes in a single night. Magnitude 7.2 and then 7.5. That was what struck Venezuela on Wednesday the 24th, and La Guaira was hit the hardest. 😮
The coastal city of 270,000 inhabitants, located just 30 kilometers east of Caracas, was practically reduced to rubble. The before-and-after images are almost impossible to look at: entire streets collapsed, buildings that no longer exist, a city with nearly 500 years of history erased in a matter of seconds. The epicenter was recorded about 160 kilometers west of the Venezuelan capital.

So far, at least 165 deaths have been confirmed, but authorities warn that that figure is preliminary. With a country in that state of destruction, rescue teams still have not reached many areas. 💔
