The round of 16 clash between France and Paraguay began heating up before the opening whistle because of Christophe Dugarry’s explosive statements. The former French striker, world champion in 1998.
“Paraguay is going to be thrashed and humiliated. We are the team to beat at this World Cup. Unstoppable? We are not very far from being so”, the former forward said.
Dugarry’s words came after France’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Sweden, a result that reinforced the excitement surrounding the current title favorites.
However, from within the French national team itself, the message has been much more cautious: both Didier Deschamps and his players have warned that they must not let their guard down against a Paraguay side that already surprised everyone by eliminating Germany.
