Manny Pacquiao’s childhood was marked by poverty. He grew up in a humble family in the Philippines, where money was barely enough for food and there were days when hunger was part of the routine. Still just a teenager, he left school to help his mother and siblings. He sold bread on the streets, did small jobs, and accepted any opportunity that allowed him to bring a few coins home.

At just 14 years old, he decided to leave for Manila to pursue a dream that seemed impossible. With no money to pay for lodging, he spent many nights sleeping in gyms, parks, or wherever he could find a roof over his head. He trained for hours while struggling to survive, convinced that boxing was the only opportunity to change his family’s fate. At 16, he made his professional debut and began a journey no one could have imagined.

Over the years, Pacquiao made history. He became the only boxer to win world titles in eight different weight classes, faced some of the greatest fighters of all time, and earned hundreds of millions of dollars in the ring. Today, his net worth is estimated at around $220 million, an unimaginable figure for the young man who once sold bread so he would not go hungry.

But perhaps the most admirable thing is that he never forgot where he came from. With part of his fortune, he has funded housing for low-income families, made multimillion-dollar donations to hospitals, schools, and victims of natural disasters, and helped thousands of people in the Philippines. For him, success was not just about escaping poverty, but about opening the way for those who are still struggling.

Because there are people who use success to change their lives… and others who also use it to change the lives of others.
