The partial collapse of a hospital in Cali left shocking images after the earthquake that shook Colombia. But one of them began to draw attention because of a detail that many had not noticed at first glance.
It all began when a user pointed out a specific area of the photograph and asked:
“Did anyone notice the face, the eyes, and its nose on the building in the second image?”
The comment sparked a true collective search. More than 140 replies appeared under the post, with users trying to find the supposed face among the remains of the structure.
Some claimed to see it immediately. Others said they had to look at the image from another angle to make out the eyes and nose.
“I saw it at first glance and it scared me”, one person commented.
Although there is obviously no evidence that a real face exists among the rubble, the phenomenon has an explanation: it is called pareidolia, the tendency of the human brain to recognize faces or familiar shapes in objects, stains, and structures that do not actually have them.
And now that someone has pointed it out, it is quite difficult to stop seeing it.
