In March 2012, Prince Harry starred in a fun speed duel with Usain Bolt in Jamaica, where he managed to “beat” the fastest man in the world by means of a false start. After distracting the athlete, Harry crossed the finish line celebrating, prompting Bolt to joke to the press: “He cheated”. This moment broke royal protocol and showed an extremely approachable and playful side of the prince during his official tour.

The rapport between them did not end there, as Bolt immediately challenged Harry to an official rematch for the London Olympic Games that same year. Keeping the humorous tone, the prince rejected the offer with a firm: “Sorry, I’m busy”, although the friendly rivalry remained alive. Harry even revealed to him that he was co-owner of a racehorse ingeniously named “Usain Colt” in his honor.

The story resurfaced years later, specifically during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, when Harry congratulated Bolt on his triple gold medal through social media. The prince took the opportunity to challenge him again by posting: “Congratulations, now you are officially the greatest; are you ready for the rematch?”. This constant exchange cemented one of the most curious and high-profile friendships between royalty and the world of sports.
