Rumeysa Gelgi, from Turkey, is 2.13 meters tall. Guinness World Records has recognized her as the tallest living woman on the planet since 2021, a record that comes with a condition called Weaver syndrome, which accelerated her growth from childhood.
For years, something as simple as getting on a plane was impossible for her. No standard seat or aisle was designed for a body like hers, so traveling was completely out of the question.
Until Turkish Airlines found a way. For her first flight, 13 hours to San Francisco in 2022, the airline removed six economy-class seats and replaced them with a flat stretcher, the only position in which she could travel. At 25, Rumeysa flew for the first time in her life.
