What would you do if a customer tries to pull you out through your workplace window by force? That is precisely what a young barista in Lakewood, Washington, experienced during an early-morning shift that turned into a real nightmare. While serving a man at the drive-thru, he suddenly grabbed her by the arm and tried to pull her out of the shop, forcing her to cling with all her strength to the window frame while desperately screaming for help.

The worker’s reaction was key: thanks to her agility and the fact that she managed to hold on firmly against the service window, the attacker lost his grip and fled at full speed. Despite the initial shock, the young woman did not lose her composure and managed to identify the suspect, since he had paid with his credit card before the attempted abduction. With that crucial piece of information in hand, authorities were able to track down and arrest, just one week later, Ezekiel Guerrero, a 19-year-old who now faces serious charges for attempted first-degree kidnapping.

During questioning, the young man confessed to the act, trying to justify his attack by claiming he was under the influence of substances and was going through a difficult personal time after a breakup. However, his excuse does not erase the seriousness of an act that could have ended in an irreparable tragedy. This case, captured on video by body cameras, leaves us with a necessary reflection on the vulnerability of those who work night shifts and the importance of always staying alert to the dangers of a world that, unfortunately, can change in a second.
