Milo Yiannopoulos, a British political commentator who rose to prominence in the United States for his far-right views, was deported to the United Kingdom after U.S. immigration authorities determined that he had to leave the country.
Yiannopoulos legally entered the United States in May 2019. According to the Department of Homeland Security, he subsequently remained in the country after his visa expired and failed to appear for an immigration hearing.
A judge issued a final removal order on July 22, 2026.
On August 27, he was detained by ICE agents at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The following day, he was sent back to the United Kingdom, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Yiannopoulos became known during the past decade for his appearances in the media and on social media and for his proximity to sectors of the American right. He also worked for Breitbart News and was a prominent figure during the Gamergate controversy.
His deportation has attracted attention especially because of his own previous positions on immigration and his advocacy of stricter measures against people who remain in the United States without authorization. The removal, however, took place for immigration-related reasons connected to his visa status and a final deportation order.
