Angelina Jolie was just 20 years old when someone recorded her without her fully knowing.
The man behind the camera was Franklin Meyer, her alleged supplier of heroin and cocaine in New York. According to him, he filmed the video in 1999, shortly after Jolie won the Golden Globe for ‘Gia’, while she was talking on the phone with her father in an apartment at the Ansonia hotel. In the footage, she appears thin, with a vacant stare and a broken voice. Some marks on her arms from drug use can also be seen.
Meyer sold the material to the National Enquirer years later, and the Daily Mail also published it in 2014. Jolie, who had already admitted in 2010 to having gone through a period of self-harm and addiction, responded by suing the tabloid for violating her privacy.
