Glenn Ndibnu was waiting for his dinner. What he received was an unexpected notice: his DoorDash delivery driver had been in an accident.
Ndibnu went to the scene on Church Road in Bowie, Maryland, and started recording. There were several ambulances.
As he said in the video, the delivery driver, William Koroma, asked him to come pick up the food with him and told him it was on the sidewalk.
Ndibnu hesitated: “Is it wrong if I cross over and pick it up?”. Still, he said “I think that’s my food”, picked it up, and apologized to Koroma.
The video spread across social media, and many people criticized him. But the story didn’t end there. Koroma said on GoFundMe that his car suffered brake failure and was wrecked, that he lost his job, and that he has medical bills. Ndibnu linked to the fundraiser in his posts, and the amount kept growing: nearly 14.000 dollars on Tuesday, and close to 16.000 in later reports.
