Someone threw a chemical directly into his eyes and left him lying there, as if his pain didn’t matter.
That’s how rescuers from the Chatons Orphelins Montréal foundation found Ghosty in Montreal, Canada. The acid burned both of his corneas and fused one of his eyelids to his eye. The veterinarians operated, but they couldn’t reverse all the damage: today, he can’t see out of his right eye and can barely make out shapes with his left.
What no one expected was his reaction. Instead of hiding, Ghosty began following his caregivers around the house and purring with every caress, as if the cruelty he had experienced had never happened. His foster family gave him back the calm that someone had tried to take away from him, and months later he found a home where no one would ever hurt him again.
