A woman was caught in Kenya just as she was trying to get rid of her own newborn baby, abandoning it among the brush as if it were trash. The mother was accompanied by her brother, who tried to defend her by saying that she called him crying because “life had become very difficult”.
So far, no further details have been confirmed about the identity of the mother or her brother, or what happened to the baby afterward. But those nearby made sure the woman understood that abandoning her child like that was not an option, and that if she did not want to care for him, she should at least leave him with the police. They also struck the man several times as a sign of disapproval over everything that had happened.
The scene remained etched in the collective memory as a brutal reminder that, for many women in desperate situations, abandonment becomes the cruelest way out.
