Can you imagine breaking into a store only to end up trapped in a steel cage with no way out? That is exactly what happened to a criminal who tried to rob a business in Pomona, California. Fed up with suffering constant thefts and watching their merchandise disappear again and again, the owners decided to take drastic measures and designed a “trap for bandits”: a steel-reinforced security system that automatically locks as soon as the intruder tries to leave through the wrong door.

The video is simply incredible: one of the suspects manages to get in through an air-conditioning duct, but upon realizing there is nothing to steal, tries to flee, only to discover that the door has become an impenetrable trap. Trapped in this “mini Alcatraz” and under the sweltering heat, the thief desperately tried to force the exit for nearly 45 minutes, kicking and using tools, but ended up exhausted and drinking water from an internal pipe while resignedly waiting for the police.

Although the attempted robbery caused damage to the infrastructure, the owners of the business were more than satisfied with the final result: one less criminal on the streets and a lesson that will surely get people talking. This story is the perfect example of how ingenuity can overcome crime, reminding us that, sometimes, karma arrives much faster than criminals expect. You definitely would not want to try breaking into this business!
