They felt something furry between the sheets in the middle of the night: an unfamiliar dog was sleeping in the bed

Julie felt something moving at the foot of the bed in the middle of the night.

It wasn’t unusual: she and her husband slept with Jupiter, Zeppelin, and Hollis, their three dogs, piled together under the blankets every night. But this time, when she turned on the light to get comfortable, she came face-to-face with a snout she had never seen before. A completely unfamiliar dog had slipped into their house during the storm and, without asking permission, chosen the warmest place to take shelter: their bed.

The dog’s name was Nala, and she had gone missing that same night in the United States, fleeing the sound of the thunder. Cris Hawkins, her owner, posted a search notice on Facebook without imagining that her pet was already safe, sleeping peacefully beside three dogs and two humans she had never seen before. The reunion post was shared more than 12.000 times, and the story continues to circulate as proof that some animals know exactly where to look for help when the world grows dark.
