The case of little 5-year-old Kumanjayi has shocked Australia after the discovery of her body near Alice Springs was confirmed, five days after she disappeared from her home.

Northern Territory police are pointing to 47-year-old Jefferson Lewis as the main suspect, a distant relative of the victim who had been released from prison just six days before the crime. DNA evidence confirmed that both the girl and Lewis were at the place where key evidence was found, unleashing an intense manhunt in the desert area.

Authorities have described this event as the worst possible outcome, while the suspect remains on the run without leaving a trace, which has forced police to carry out house-to-house operations old-school style. The little girl’s mother expressed her profound pain, while the country demands justice in the face of this atrocious incident.
